What Education Is To Me

I myself like the online classes. I can relax at home, dress how I want to drink coffee, smoke during class if I want to. No Rules to go by but to do what is required by the class at hand.

This is my 4th term here at Kaplan University, I have noticed that in the 6 of the 8 classes that I have been in so far that I have been the only male in the classes. I think that if I was in a class room environment I would fill out of place and all. I know that it is only a mind thing but that would bug me for sure. But online I'm fine with it.

I also believe that we learn something new everyday or we get a better understanding on something we were not sure about. An example of this is this blog thing. I know that we all have made new friends in all of the classes to.

A little about myself. I retired from the Army in 1995 as a staff Sergeant (E-6) I was in the Army from Aug. 1977 - Jun. 1995, I was a volunteer Fire Fighter/ First Responder from 1992 - 1997, I was a mover for 2 years, then in 1997 - 2005 I was an over the road truck drive, 2005 - 2007 I drove a truck local. Till I messed up the rotor cuff and had it repaired and now I'm Looking for a full time job. I do have a job but it is only seasonal plowing snow for the state.

I started going for my associates degree in Medical assisting in Jun. 2009. I hope to have it completed by Jun 2011 and be working in the medical field full time.

I hope that this blog is what I was to do it on and everything. See you all in class have a great week and great learning to.

  1. I was just about to comment that you seemed to be the only male in class because I noticed it too. If you was in a traditional class, you would be a lucky man, and then again, maybe you wouldn't. LOL.

I hear you on the job situation. It seems to be a problem everywhere. I have applied from everything to flipping burgers to manager positions. I've even gone as far as to tell them I would work below minimum wage. It's getting to be ridiculous finding anything. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just too old or have too much experience or that places just aren't hiring right now. I've thought about filling out applications stating that I've never had a job and see where it gets me, but I haven't tried that one yet. My daughters can get a job right away. I just don't get it. Things that make you go 'Hmmmmm....'
I am also in my 4th term working on my AAS in medical assisting, which I started in June of '09. I have already submitted my application for possible sites to do my first part of clinical, but haven't heard back on that. I hope it's a pediatric or family practice office. I wouldn't even mind an urgent care facility. The sooner they let me know where, the sooner I can begin all my requirements (CPR certification, physical, TB and titer test).
